Professor Datin Dr. Rozi Mahmud began her service as a lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2000. She is a radiologist at the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences (FMHS), UPM. She obtained a degree in medicine at the University of Malaya (UM), 1988; MMeD Radiology of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), 1995; and expand its expertise in Radiology and Imaging with neuro radiology training at New York University Hospital in 1996 and Digital Imaging Breast Biopsy Technique of Wijaya International Medical Center in 2004.

 

She is so committed to teaching and research activities in UPM. To date, she has supervised and advises a total of 16 undergraduate students, 48 postgraduate students (master), and 40 postgraduate students (PhD) in various related fields. In the field of research, she was heavily involved in the project, research grants and consultancy in the field of breast imaging and radiology. She is often invited as a radiology consultant or guest speakers for external organizations and private agencies. More than 50 research publications have been published in high-impact journals. The research results have also been presented and disseminated in the international and local conference. She also had the chance to produce books, chapters in books, proceedings and teaching modules. Her research publications are also recognized at the global and national level.

 

Her leadership brought to light since she was actively involved in several committees at the University level. She was awarded as the Head of Department of Imaging, FMHS from 2006-2015. In addition, she is also a member of several professional associations at the national level such as College of Radiology, Academy of Medicine; Healthy Aging Society; National Specialist Registry; and Malaysia Civil Defence Department (JPAM). In 2015, she was awarded the rank of Colonel by JPAM.

 

More than 30 community projects were accompanied by her. She was more focused in services health screening program and breast cancer awareness program for communities especially in rural areas. Through these projects, she also builds a good networking with private agencies, non-government organizations (NGOs), multinational companies and individual. With this success, she was assigned to lead Cancer Resource & Education Center (CaRE) as Director for 3 years commencing July 2016.
